Honouliuli Hidden Histories Walk

Provided by Pacific Historic Parks

The Honouliuli Hidden Histories Walk offers a solemn and illuminating journey through Hawaiʻi’s WWII internment legacy. Honouliuli National Historic Site, once an incarceration center for POWs and U.S. citizens of varied backgrounds, now hosts interpretive trails (when open) that guide visitors through landscape, earthen walls, and signage explaining the lived experiences of internees. While full public access is still being developed, limited or guided access may be offered for educational groups. The walk helps visitors reflect on civil liberties, wartime policies, and the resilience of the human spirit. This activity is especially meaningful in linking memory, place, and civic awareness.
